ALLEN, ELIZABETH MOORE OGDEN (1840-1918)~ Elizabeth Moore Ogden Allen was born on March 3, 1840, in Union County, Arkansas to Stanly Ogden of North Carolina and Harriet Nolan of Ohio.
Elizabeth and her family lived in Tyler County, Woodville, Texas in 1860, and there is no evidence of Stanly or Harriet living after 1860. In 1870, Elizabeth, at the age of 30, moved to Milam County, Texas where she was living with Andrew Seargent, a blacksmith, and his family. After 1870, it is probable that Elizabeth married for there is no record of her after 1870, under her maiden name of Ogden.
It is obvious that she married a Confederate Veteran with the surname Allen for she was allowed to enter the Confederate Women's Home at an unknown date. She remained there until her death on April 9, 1918, where she was buried in the State Cemetery two days later.
