LOMBARDINO, STELLA PIPER (1927 ~ 2014). The following is an obituary for Stella Piper Lombardino, spouse of Senator Frank Lombardino. The obituary was provided by Geo. H. Lewis & Sons Funeral Directors.

Stella Piper Lombardino, passed into Heaven on Thursday, the 1st of May 2014 in Houston. A native Texan, Stella retired from Kelly Air Force Base in San Antonio where she was in charge of procurement of B52 parts. Kelly AFB was the maintenance facility for B52 bombers. She was a member of the Catholic Church.

Stella was the widow of successful public servant Frank Lombardino, who was an elected State Representative from San Antonio from 1967 through 1975 and State Senator for Senate District 26 from 1975 through 1979. He passed on September 23, 1992. Stella moved to Houston in 2004 in her final years of life.

A loving mother to Judge James Lombardino and wife Mabel of Houston, and the late Mary Ann Cerny and husband Owen Cerny of Corpus Christi; a doting grandmother to David Lombardino and wife Veronica, Michael Lombardino and wife Kimberly all of Houston, and Shane Cerny of Arlington and Kelly Cerny of Ft. Worth; a beloved great-grandmother to Sarah Lombardino of Houston, and Ryan Parker Cerny of Ft. Worth; a dedicated sister to Betty Kuhn of Kendalia, Katherine Jones of Austin and Henrietta Campbell of San Antonio; and a devoted wife to the late State Senator Frank J. Lombardino; Stella lived her life in service to her family and friends.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o'clock in the afternoon until eight o'clock in the evening on Tuesday, the 6th of May 2014, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston, where a vigil and recitation of the Holy Rosary is to commence at half-past six o'clock in the afternoon.

Immediately following all are invited to greet the family in a reception to be held in the adjacent grand foyer.

The Mass of Christian Burial is to be offered at one o'clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, the 7th of May 2014, at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2140 Westheimer Road in Houston.

At a later date, the family will gather for the rite of committal and interment at the Texas State Cemetery in Austin.
