WYNNE, ERASMUS WILLIAM (1847 ~ 1922). Erasmus William Wynne, Confederate veteran, was born in Green County, Alabama in 1847. At the age of three, he and his family moved to Texas, where he grew up and became a farmer.

At the age of sixteen, Wynne, who was affectionately referred to as "Fat Ras" by fellow soldier Judge Lewis B. Hightower who was a Captain, mustered into Company K of Brown's Regiment. After the war, Wynne returned to Texas and lived in Walker County, Huntsville, Texas, with his wife, Toni, who was also born in Alabama.

There are no known children between them and by 1910, EW Wynne is shown to be living by himself in Navarro County, Corsicana, Texas. Here he worked as a merchant, selling homemade candy on the street. It was not until December 15, 1920, that EW Wynne moved to the Confederate Men's Home in Austin, Texas. He died there, January 21, 1922, and was buried in the Texas State Cemetery the same day.
