BLUE, WILLIS G. (1841-1926) ~ Willis G. Blue, Confederate Veteran, was born in Texas in 1841. He worked as a carpenter until the start of the war. On August 3, 1861, Willis joined the 5th Regiment Texas Infantry, Co. I. He remained a private throughout the war and worked as a courier for General Jerome Bonaparte Robertson. On May 6, 1864, during the Battle of the Wilderness, he was wounded in the arm. Afterwards, he was taken prisoner and paroled on April 9, 1865. After the war, Willis resided in Haynesville, Texas. He was admitted to the Confederate Mens Home on October 31, 1910 where he later died on January 8, 1928. He was buried the same day in the Texas State Cemetery.
