LESTER, ARCHER V. (1847~1937) Archer V. Lester was born on May 17, 1847 in Marshall County, Mississippi to Thomas M. Lester, of Virginia, and Elizabeth P. Pate, of Pennsylvania. In the Civil War, Lester served in Company B of the 2nd Louisiana Cavalry in Kirby Smith's Division of the Trans Mississippi Army.

In 1847, Archer and his wife Fannie moved to Texas and settled in Kyle, where he worked as a farmer. Due to their advanced age, Archer and Fannie moved into the Confederate Men's Home in Austin. Archer lived in the Home for five years until his death on June 2, 1937.
