MCADAMS, LUCIUS M. (1845 - 1844) Lucius M. McAdams, Confederate Veteran, was born January 16, 1845, at Chariton, Missouri. He enlisted in Company K, Smith's Cavalry, Shelby's Brigade.

After the war McAdams became a teacher. He came to Texas in 1930 - too late to qualify for the pension. He was admitted to the Texas Confederate Home on June 5, 1939, from Teague, Freestone County, Texas. During the war, McAdams fought in the battles at Pleasanton, Kansas and Newtonia, Missouri. He was later captured and held by the Union forces at Fort Smith, Arkansas. McAdams died on August 1, 1944, and was buried in the Texas State Cemetery.
