PHILLIPS, THOMAS HAWTHORNE (1914~1975) Thomas Hawthorne Phillips, district judge and Associate Justice of the Supreme Court, was born December 30, 1914, in Marlin, Falls County, Texas.

After serving as judge of the 107th Judicial District of Texas, he was appointed to the Supreme Court by Governor Preston Smith on October 2, 1972. After being confirmed by the Senate and taking his oath of office, he served until his death on October 23, 1975. He was buried two days later in the Texas State Cemetery.
