HAMILTON, ROBERT WILLIAM (1899~1981) Robert William "Bob" Hamilton, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of Texas, was born March 24, 1899, in Omen, Texas. Judge Hamilton received his law degree from the University of Texas at Austin before pursuing a law career, which included sitting as an associate justice on the Texas Supreme Court, and as the former chief justice of the 8th Court of Civil Appeals in El Paso.

He also served as former district judge in Midland County, where he was also a district attorney. Hamilton, a Smith County native, began his career in 1927 in Tyler, where he entered the private practice of law.

Upon his death, Hamilton had been of counsel with the Tyler law firm of Ramsey, Flock, Hutchins, Jeffus, McClendon, and Crawford.

The former Supreme Court Justice held law memberships in Midland and El Paso Bar, State Bar of Texas, the American Bar Association and the American Judicature Society.

Judge Hamilton, between 1919 and 1926, was also a coach and teacher in Plainview, Texas, and was a veteran of World War I.

He was a member of the Tyler Petroleum Club, Willow Brook Country Club, and Christ Episcopal Church.
