LUNA, RONALD EDWARD (1937 ~ 1988). Ronald Edward "Ronnie" Luna, member of the Texas Employment Commission, was born on September 30, 1937, and graduated from Bay City High School, the University of Texas at Austin, with a BA in history in 1960, and the University of Texas Law School in 1965.

Mr. Luna was a member of the Texas Employment Commission from February, 1984, until his death. He also served as Assistant Attorney General for 18 years, Chief of the Consumer Division and Chief of the Labor Division. He also worked in the Law Office of Sam Houston Clinton, who was a member of the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. Mr. Luna also worked for the Texas AFL-CIO for seven years while attending the University of Texas, and was a member of the Office and Professional Employees International Union, Local 298, for 31 years, where he served as president and secretary/treasurer. Mr. Luna was a member of the Texas Consumers Association for 24 years and served as president; and was a 4-H Club Leader.

A life long Democrat and member of the Young Democrats, he was a member of the State Democratic Executive Committee from the 14th Senatorial District from 1978 - 1982, secretary of the State Democratic Executive Committee from 1982 - 1988. Mr. Luna worked in the Ralph Yarborough campaigns from 1954 - 1957, Kennedy-Johnson campaign in 1960, Ralph Yarborough campaign volunteer in 1968, McGovern campaign volunteer in 1972, Carter-Mondale campaign in 1976, John Hill campaign for Governor in 1978, Carter-Mondale campaign in 1980, Mark White campaign for Governor in 1982, Mondale-Ferraro campaign in 1984, Mark White campaign for Governor in 1986, and the Dukakis-Bentsen campaign in 1988.

Mr. Luna passed away on Saturday, October 29, 1988, and was buried in the Texas State Cemetery four days later.
