TAYLOR, ESTELLE FOSTER (1903-1999) Mrs. Estelle Foster was born in Kerens, Texas, on November 20, 1903. She attended Mary Hardin Baylor and graduated from Baylor University with a degree in Education in 1927.

That same year, 1927, she married James Edward Taylor. Estelle Taylor was extremely active in her husband's political pursuits; so much in fact, that in 1944 she placed her husband's name on the ballot in absentia for election to the Texas Senate from Navarro County.

She and her daughter campaigned for him while he served in Europe during World War II. Taylor returned to Texas after winning the election and continued in both public and private office for many years. Estelle Taylor was active in the Red Cross, Senate Ladies Club, the First Baptist Church of Kerens, and the First Baptist Church of Austin.

According to her obituary, "Estelle Foster Taylor was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother."

She died March 8, 1999, and is buried next to her husband in the Texas State Cemetery.
