SHERIDAN, MARJORIE ELIZABETH GRAGG (1922 ~ 2014). The following is an obituary for Marjorie Elizabeth Gragg Sheridan, spouse of former Texas House of Representatives Member Edward Hueber Sheridan. The obituary was provided by Cook Walden Funeral Home.

Marjorie Elizabeth Gragg Sheridan (Marge), age 92, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2014. She was born March 9, 1922, to Perry E. Gragg and Lillian Davidson in San Antonio, Texas. She was the youngest of seven children-six girls and one boy. She and her sisters were privileged to spend many summers with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Davidson at their home, the Fulton Mansion, in Rockport, Texas.

She attended public schools in San Antonio and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1939.

Marge went to the University of San Antonio for two years where she met Ed Sheridan. They were married on April 18, 1942. When Mr. Sheridan returned from World War II, they lived in San Antonio. Marge worked in the insurance industry until the birth of her children, daughter Sherry, and three years later, son Mike. After her children started attending school, she returned to work for USAA in San Antonio. While active in the insurance business, she was a member of the Federation of Insurance.

When she and her husband moved to Austin, she was employed by Dairyland Insurance Company and worked there until she took an early retirement in 1978. She then assisted her husband in the office duties of his inspection business until he sold his business and retired. After 1990, they spent the majority of their time at their bay home at Holiday Beach near Rockport, Texas, until Mr. Sheridan's death on June 1, 1996.

Marge's favorite past time was quilting. In addition to making numerous quilts for her family, she frequently went to quilt shows and visited every quilt store within a 100-mile radius of Austin.

Marge is survived by her son, Mike Sheridan of Austin, Texas; her daughter, Sherry Garrison of Deer Park, Texas; granddaughter, Jennifer Railey and her husband Jack Railey of Deer Park, Texas; grandson, Todd Ford and his wife Georgette Ford of Deer Park, Texas; grandson, Brent Ford and his wife Robbie Ford of Wimberley, Texas; and five great-grandchildren, Gracie, Morgan, Hayden, Jenna, and Morgan; as well as many other relatives and beloved friends.

Services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday December 30, 2014 at Cook-Walden Funeral Home, 6100 N. Lamar Blvd, Austin, Texas. A private graveside service will be held at the Texas State Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 3208 Exposition Blvd, Austin, Texas 78703.
