MAYFIELD, POLLY MUSSETT (1844~1939) Polly Mussett Mayfield, wife of Confederate veteran Ephraim Norman Mayfield, was born on February 13, 1844, in Fayetteville, Arkansas to Sinnett Mussett and Mary Sneed.

The Mussetts moved to Texas in 1846 and settled in Austin two years later. After the Civil War, Polly married Ephraim Norman Mayfield on June 5, 1867 in Austin. They had one daughter, Hope.

Following Ephraim's death on December 31, 1906, Polly was successful in appling for a Widow's Pension from the State of Texas. Sometime between 1909 and 1937, Polly moved to Dallas, where she lived with her daughter, Hope. She died on July 4, 1939, in Dallas and her body was returned to Austin to be buried next to her husband.

#8818) Old cemetery records indicate that this may be the gravesite of assumed son of eph. mayfield. We have no other information on either person. The assumed father eph. mayfield may have died in 1906. Please contact the cemetery admin. with info.
