MATTHEWS, DOROTHY WHITE (1918 ~ 2002). Dorothy White Matthews, wife of former State Representative Wayne Matthews, was born on June 29, 1918, in Yale, Oklahoma to Charles Emerson and Cora Chapman White.
She was a graduate of Texas State College for Women, now called Texas Womans University. She married Wayne Matthews, of Gladewater, Texas, in 1924 and lived in Midland since 1950.
A pianist, Mrs. Matthews gave private instructions and was a member of the Midland Musicians Club. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Midland. Mrs. Matthews died on December 11, 2002, and was buried in the Texas State Cemetery.
The Matthews were married for sixty years and had two daughters, Joan and Janet.
