POND, DANA BULLARD (1846 ~ 1927). Confederate veteran Dana Bullard Pond was born in Jackson, Louisiana in 1846.

Pond enlisted in the Confederate army at Clinton, East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana, in 1862 and served throughout the Civil War. Pond served in Co. A, 27th Louisiana Infantry and was captured at the Battle of Vicksburg in 1863. He was paroled July 8, 1863 and rejoined his unit. He, along with many other members of the 27th Louisiana, was transferred to Co. B, Ogden Cavalry Battalion in December of 1863.

Pond moved to Texas in 1901 and worked as a farmer. He lived in Travis County for five years before applying for a Confederate pension from the State of Texas in 1925. The pension was granted later that year.

Pond died on January 23, 1927 in Travis County at the home of his daughter, Mrs. H. C. Morrison and was buried at the Texas State Cemetery. His death certificate indicates he was a widower when he died, but his wife's name is not known.
