KEETON, MADGE ANNA STEWART (1911 ~ 2001). Madge Anna Stewart Keeton was born May 29, 1911, in San Antonio, Texas, and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, by Norris and Mary Catherine Stewart.

She moved to Austin in 1931 to attend the University of Texas, where she was a Bluebonnet Belle. While studying law, she was in the torts class of a young professor named W. Page Keeton. She earned her B.A. with Honors in English in 1935, and a search of records proves that she did indeed receive her highest marks from that young professor, who did indeed immediately become her husband.

The ultimate Dean's Wife, she was active in the Parent-Teacher Association, University of Texas at Austin and the City of Austin Brackenridge Hospital Women's Auxiliary, the University Ladies Club, the Panhellenic Council, the Law Wives, and she would give you the shirt off her back. But her favorite job was raising her children, grandchildren and great- granddaughters. An avid fan of her family's tennis talents, or at least an avid talker at tennis tournaments, not a weekend passed without corralling duties at the courts.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Page Keeton, the 25-year Dean of the University of Texas Law School - but, as he often said, Madge was always running late. The Keetons were married for 64 years- or "rounds" as Page playfully put it.
