CLEMENTS, ANN TRIGG (1932 ~ 2013). The following is an obituary for Ann Trigg Clements, spouse of Texas House Member Jamie Hager Clements. The obituary was published in the Dallas Morning News upon her death.

Clements, Ann Trigg 1932 - 2013 - Ann Trigg Clements, age 81 of Temple, died peacefully in her sleep on the morning of Monday, July 29, 2013 at her residence. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, August 2, at Grace Presbyterian Church in Temple with Rev. Thom Lamb officiating. Private burial will be at Texas State Cemetery in Austin. Ann was born May 25, 1932, in Dallas, Texas.

She attended Highland Park schools, graduated high school from St. Mary's Hall in San Antonio, and earned an Associate Degree in Fashion Merchandising from Edgewood Park School in New York. The Dallas social scene was dear to Ann's heart in the early 1950s. She was president of the Dallas Slipper Club and a member of the Dallas Junior League. Then along came a suitor named Jamie H. Clements, and the two married in 1962 and moved to Temple.

Life was wonderfully active for both Ann and Jamie in Temple, beginning with the birth of their daughter Cindy in 1964, frequent visits from his children Susan and Jimmy, and the companionship of so many close friends in Temple and throughout Texas. Ann had a special place in her heart for the disabled, having herself contracted polio at the age of 20. She worked at the Bell County Rehabilitation Center for 12 years, served as Director of the Easter Seal Telethon in Bell County for four years, and was honored by the Altrusa Club in 1979 for her work with handicapped children. Community leadership was an important part of Ann's life, as well. She served as Chair of the Democratic Women's Committee of Bell County, President of the Board of Regents of the Betty Martin Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, President of the Floral Arts Garden Club, President of the Domestic Science Club, Vice President and Charter Member of the Friends of Temple Public Library, Board Member of Mary Hardin-Baylor School of Nursing, and Charter Member of the Scott & White Auxiliary, "Yellow Birds," and of the Contemporaries of Cultural Activities Center.

She was again honored in 1980, this time by the Junior Chamber of Commerce, which named her Jaycee Woman of the Year. Ann was also active in the First Presbyterian Church and Grace Presbyterian Church and served as President of the Women of the Church of First Presbyterian Church.

Ann was predeceased by her parents, Jack and Thelma Trigg of Dallas, and her husband of 47 years, Jamie H. Clements. She is survived by her sister Bitsy Trigg Gannon and her husband Clair of Hillsboro. She will always be remembered as a spirited fighter and loving mother by her daughter Cindy Voelter and her husband Chuck of Austin, and by her two stepchildren, Susan Negley of San Antonio, and Jamie (Jimmy) Clements and his wife Diana of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Ann will also be remembered as a loving grandmother by the eleven grandchildren who lovingly called her Nanny: William Negley, Ashley Clements, Jamie Negley, Madison Clements Brecevich and her husband, Antonio, Suzanne Negley, Austen Clements, Noe Clements, Carolina Clements, Hannah Palmer, Samuel Palmer, and Rhett Voelter.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be sent to Easter Seals Central Texas, 1611 Headway Circle Building 2, Austin, TX 78754, or Autism Speaks, 1060 State Road, 2nd Floor, Princeton, NJ 08540.
