MOORE, PHYLLIS ANN PHILLIPS (1935 ~ 2002). Phyllis Ann Phillips Moore was born in Lubbock, Texas on October 6, 1935. She was the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. C.M. Phillips of Levelland, Texas.

She grew up in Kerrville, Texas, while her father served in Europe during World War II and completed her high school education in Levelland, Texas, where she graduated as Valedictorian in 1952. She attended the University of Texas as a Plan Two Major and received her degree in January of 1956. While at the University of Texas she served in numerous student organizations as well as being a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority.

She married James Steele Moore on September 23, 1955. Following her husband's graduation from University of Texas Law School in September of 1956, they lived in Ft. Worth, Texas, for approximately one year before moving to Lubbock, Texas, in 1957. While residing in Lubbock, she was a member of the Junior League of Lubbock, The Symphony Guild, The Lubbock Women's Club, Alumnae Association of Kappa Kappa Gamma, served 21 years as an advisor to Delta Psi Chapter of Kappa Kappa Gamma at Texas Tech as well as being a member of the House Board of that sorority for a number of years.

She served as a docent at the Ranching and Heritage Center at Texas Tech. She was a member of St. Paul's on The Plains Episcopal Church and served in many offices of the women of the church, including president. She was President of St. Francis Guild and a long-time volunteer at the church's thrift house.

Her other activities in Lubbock included service for several years as Host Family to student pilots at Reese Air Force Base and the Republican Women's Club of Lubbock County. In Austin she was a sustaining member of the Junior League of Austin, the Transfer Sustainers Book Club, and the Garden Club. She was a member of the Austin Lyric Opera Guild and served on the Board of Directors of that organization, was a member of the Board of Directors of the Texas Hill Country Wine and Food Festival, a member of the St. David's Hospital Foundation and was a member of the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church.

She also belonged to the Austin Country Club, Barton Creek Country Club, Tarry House, the Dance Club and the Chaine Des Rotisseurs. In Colorado Springs, she was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, The Broadmoor Golf Club, The Garden of the Gods Club, and Colorado Springs Symphony Guild.

Mrs. Moore passed away on Monday, April 15, 2002, and was buried in the Texas State Cemetery two days later.
