MONROE, DANIEL G. (1840 ~ 1908). Confederate veteran Daniel G. Monroe was born in North Carolina in 1840. During the Civil War, he served in Company B, 43rd Georgia Infantry, Ledbetter's Brigade in the Army of Tennessee.

Monroe moved to Texas in 1879 and lived in Lillian, Johnson County. His residence was Lillian, Texas.

He was a widowed carpenter who suffered from kidney trouble when he was admitted to the Confederate Men's Home on August 1, 1908. He died at the Home on August 19, 1908 and was buried at the Texas State Cemetery.
