BIRD, P.D (1822~1908)P.D. Bird was born in 1822 in Georgia. During the Civil War he served in Company D, 13th Alabama Infantry, Hill?s Division in the Army of Northern Virginia. The regiment organized July 1861 in Montgomery, Alabama. The major battles included Cold Harbor, Sharpsburg (Antietam), Chancellorsville, Gettysburg, Wilderness, and Petersburg. Surrendered April 9, 1865 at Appomattox Court House by General Lee.

Bird came to Texas in 1876 and lived in Pottsville, Hamilton County where he was a Christian. He was a farmer who suffered from kidney disease. He was admitted to the Confederate Home on June 5, 1908 where he died December 23, 1908.
