RYAN, JOHN (1831 ~ 1910). Confederate veteran John Ryan was born in 1831. Though his birthplace is not known, Ryan lived in Nashville, Tennessee before the Civil War.

He enlisted in the Confederate Army on June 29, 1861. Ryan was assigned to Company B of the 4th Georgia Battalion, Sharp Shooters Division. He was captured at Marietta, Georgia on June 19, 1864 and transferred to a Military Prison in Louisville, Kentucky and then to Camp Morton at Indianapolis, Indiana.

He was released after signing the Oath of Allegiance on May 22, 1865.

He entered the Confederate Men's Home in Austin at an unknown date. Ryan died at the Home on December 29, 1910 and was buried at the Texas State Cemetery.
