EIKENBURG, FRANK CHARLES (1944 ~ 2009). The following is an obituary for Frank Charles Eikenburg. The obituary was provided by West Funeral Home of Dallas.

"Frank 'Chappy' Eikenburg, age 64, of Dallas died June 4, 2009, after a valiant fight with liver cancer. Frank was born July 7, 1944, in Wellington, Texas, the son of Frank and Margaret Eikenburg. They, as well as his brothers John and David Eikenburg, preceded him in death. He is survived by his daughter Constance Emily Eikenburg and her partner April Miller; his sisters, Madelynn Brooks and her husband Bill, and Livonia Gay Glaves and her husband Bill; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Eikenburg and Beth Eikenburg; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Frank graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and Texas Tech University, Class of 1966. He was an Eagle Scout and served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was elected as a Republican to the Texas State House of Representatives, and represented Collin and Rockwall Counties from 1980 until January of 1985. A few years later, he was appointed by Governor Bill Clements to be on the Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles; he served in that capacity from 1987 until 1991. Later in life, he became a political consultant in order to advocate for conservative issues that were near and dear to his heart.

Frank often traveled with his longtime best friend Roland Dickey to visit and open new Dickey’s Barbecue restaurants around the Southwest. Frank’s humor and readiness to help will be missed by people in the Republican Party and by his many dear friends. A celebration of Frank’s life will be held Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at 7:30 pm, at Ted Dickey West Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society."
