SPARKS, JAMES THOMAS (1920 ~ 1996). The following is an obituary for James Thomas Sparks, former Texas House of Representatives member. The obituary ran in the November 22, 1996 edition of the Austin American Statesman.

"Jim T. Sparks, 76, died Thursday, November 21, 1996.

He was a former student at the University of Texas at Austin, and active in public relations for many years in Austin. He represented Grayson County for three terms in the State Legislature, and served on the Industrial Accident Board.

Mr. Sparks was preceded in death by his wife, Nell, on January 12, 1996.

Survivors include sisters-in-law, Mrs. M. M. (Vick) Davis, Mrs. Guy (Marjorie) Sparks, Sherman, Texas, Mrs. Eugene, (Margaret) Sparks, Greenbelt Maryland; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, in the State Cemetery with The Reverend Doctor Michael Stelmachowicz officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Concordia University, or a favorite charity.

Sparks was born October 23, 1920 and died in Round Rock.
