CARR, ERNESTINE STORY (1920 ~ 2013). The following is an obituary for Ernestine Story Carr, spouse of former Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives Waggoner Carr. The obituary was provided by Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home.

Ernestine Carr, wife of the late Attorney General and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Waggoner Carr, passed away on October 6, 2013.

She is survived by her son Dr. David Carr and his wife, Diana, their daughters Courtney Carr, Cherise Ginsburg and her husband Kevin and their children Savannah and Cannan Ginsburg. She is also survived by her sister Ruth Pollard and her family.

Ernestine graduated from Texas Tech and was a teacher during World War II. Ernestine enjoyed gardening, wildflowers, butterflies, and bird watching on the Llano River. She enjoyed painting with watercolors and her favorite artist was Georgia O'Keefe, She will be missed by us all.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at the Texas State Cemetery, 909 Navasota St. followed by a reception in the cemetery's Gallery building.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ernestine and Waggoner CarrScholarship Endowment, Texas Tech Foundation, Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas.
