REED, LUCY CAROLINE HEADRICK RITCHEY (1872 ~ 1960). Lucy Caroline Headrick Ritchey Reed was born October 11, 1872, in Bridgeport, Cocke County, Tennessee to William Henry Headrick and Sarah Elizabeth Brooks both of Tennessee.

After moving to Williamson County, Texas with her parents in 1891, Lucy Headrick married Sanford Pellum Ritchey on July 31, 1894, in Taylor, Texas. Ritchey was a Confederate veteran who served in Company E of the 4th Texas Cavalry.

The couple remained in Williamson County after their marriage and Sanford Ritchey worked as a farmer until his death on February 1, 1915. Sometime after her husband's death, Lucy Ritchey married Z. W. Reed, who passed away prior to January 18, 1956, when she applied for his Confederate Pension.

Lucy Reed moved to the Confederate Woman's Home in Austin on January 29, 1957. She died in a Georgetown hospital on July 2, 1960 while on furlough from the Home. She was buried in the Texas State Cemetery three days later.

Lucy Reed had at least one child, a daughter, Sally Lou Abbott, who was living in Austin, and a granddaughter, Lucille A. Finley, who was living in Lockhart at the time of her death. It is likely that Sally Abbot's father was Sanford P. Ritchey.
