RUNDELL, JAMES LAMBERT (1918 ~ 1997). The following is an obituary for Texas Ranger James Lambert Rundell which ran in the Austin American Statesman shortly after his death:

"Captain James Lambert 'Skippy' Rundell, Sr. was born October 5, 1918, in Delhi, Louisiana. Shortly after graduation from public schools in Delhi, he moved to Laird Hill, Texas, where he met and married Mabel Onita Ainsworth.

On November 1, 1941, Skippy joined the Texas Department of Public Safety in the Highway Patrol Service. He took a leave of absence on June 4, 1944, to serve in the U.S. Marine Corps. Upon completing his service with the Corps, he was reinstated with the Department of Public Safety. Skippy's service with the Department spanned 40 years. He was transferred from the Highway Patrol Service to the Motor Vehicle Inspection Division on January 1, 1956, and on September 1, 1956, he was promoted to Agent in the Internal Security section.

He transferred to the Texas Ranger Service on January 1, 1959, where he served until being promoted to Assistant Senior Ranger Captain. He served in that capacity until his retirement from active service on August 31, 1981. He stayed active in Ranger activities as long as his health allowed him to do so. Skippy died on August 11, 1997, in Austin, Texas."
