WASHINGTON, CRAIG ANTHONY (1941~) Craig Washington was born in Longview, Gregg County, Texas, on October 12, 1941. He received a B.S. from Prairie View A&M University in 1966 and a J.D. from Texas Southern University Law School in 1969. Washington served as a member of the Texas House of Representatives from 1973-1982 and as a member of the Texas Senate from 1983-1989. Washington was elected as a Democrat to the One Hundred First Congress, by special election, on December 9, 1989, in order to fill the vacancy caused by the death of George T. (Mickey) Leland. Washington was reelected to the One Hundred Second and One Hundred Third Congresses and served from December 9, 1989, to January 3, 1995. |
